Personal Profile

Rev. Fr. Dr. John F. Sequeira is a Discalced Carmelite priest from the province of Karnataka – Goa. He is the Director of Ryshivana, a centre for Inner Silence and Contemplative prayer, situated at Ranipura, Mangalore, India. Fr. John completed his masters in Philosophy at the Karnataka University and German Linguistics from the University of Vienna, Austria. He has a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Pontifical University Anglelicum Rome (Specialized in Hermeneutics i. e. interpreting the classical texts) and two post doctoral diplomas in Comparative Hermeneutics and Human Resource Development. He is a visiting professor to many seminaries and post graduation centres of Learning in India and abroad. Apart from his teachings in Philosophy, Religion and Mysticism he is also engaged in conducting Human Resource Development programmes. As a preacher, Fr. John is known for his workshops on “Contemplative prayer” and “Inner Quiet”. He is the founder and chief editor of “Dhyana,” a Journal of Religion and Spirituality and founder editor of “Jeeva Jala” a Kannada magazine on spiritual reflections for everyday. Besides being a regular writer to many well-known journals of Philosophy and Spirituality, he has also authored books such as “Discipline of Dialogue” “Transforming Formation” and “Combating Terrorism”.
